Payroll & HRIS Specialist

Job Description

This position reports through the corporate office in Monett, MO.  It has the potential to be a remote role.


Responsible for accurately recording and processing all company payroll, provide timely and accurate financial information, and support and maintain the human resource information systems (HRIS). This position serves as a technical point of contact for all payroll processes and HRIS systems procedure and support.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


Responsible for entry and verification of all bi-weekly payroll information, and ensuring employee payroll is prepared accurately and timely per EFCO and Apogee processes and policies.

Lead all initiatives related to EFCO payroll. Effectively partner with Apogee as required.

Partner with Apogee and Kronos to ensure system meets EFCO needs

Configure Kronos when necessary to adapt to changing business requirements

Manage payroll transactions, reporting, garnishments, stop payments, deductions (uniform, YMCA, and shoes) and other operations.

Oversee wage and salary changes, compensation, bonus, vacations payout, and commissions.

Responsible for reporting functions including pay changes, W4 auditing, onboarding validation, separations, FMLA/STD hours paid, missed punches, vacation, and time entry accuracy.

Proficiently execute eTime/Kronos time and attendance processing and interface with payroll.

o ADP, EV5, eTime, Kronos, DocView and Payroll Notes for hourly and salary transactions.

o Must be proficient in all phases of Kronos applications, Kronos Workforce Manager and working knowledge of such items as access profiles, display profiles, Navigators and organizational mapping

Participate in daily data entry payroll processing and Payroll Notes.

Responsible for payroll approval process.

Promote consistency in payroll practices and procedures throughout the organization.

o Compile data and assist and/or prepare business and government reports as required.

o Organize and maintain files/records


Promptly respond to payroll inquiries from employees, Kronos Administrators, and Supervisors/Managers. Act as a liaison for Supervisors/Managers and employees to resolve questions or discrepancies.

Assist in the training of employees, Supervisors/Managers, and Kronos Administrators on new policies and procedures.

Work with Apogee and the HR team to examine, test, and implement new policies, procedures, and system upgrades.

Prepare monthly and quarterly account reconciliations within the company.

Assist in HR Audit and SOX compliance related to payroll.

Assist in the review, testing, and implementations of HRIS system upgrades or patches.

Write, maintain and support a variety of reports or queries using the appropriate reporting tools. Assist in the development of standard reports for ongoing customer needs. Help maintain data integrity in systems by running queries and analyzing data.

Maintain confidentiality and professionalism regarding all employee (hourly and salary) information.

Bachelor's degree preferred.

3-4 year's experience with payroll functions, preferably with Kronos (iSeries) and ADP.

1-3 year's experience with a comprehensive understanding of HRIS systems and reporting functions, preferably ADP/ADPR.

Demonstrated ability to multi-task and adapt in a fast-paced environment.

Strong self-starter with the ability to develop new processes, identify needs, implement, and train.

Very strong communication skills.

Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and efficiency.

Systems implementation experience preferred, but not required.

Project Management experience preferred, but not required



This position requires very strong communication skills through individual interactions, extensive written and oral communication, and large group presentations. Must be able to communicate with a diverse team of employees and various levels of management.


Must possess the ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Must be able to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.



Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.



Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

If during this time it is determined that the employee cannot successfully fulfill the requirements of this position, every attempt will be made to return the employee to his/her previous job assignment, if it has not already been filled by another employee.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
